High Short Interest
More than 20% of float sold short.
Short interest counts shares borrowed and sold by investors betting the price will fall, and above 20% of the float is high. It can mark a company with real problems short sellers have found, or a crowded bet that reverses sharply on good news.
Short interest is reported twice a month, so the figure can be two weeks old.
