Neglected Quality

P/E < 20, ROE > 15%, low institutional ownership, low short interest.

Large funds own most of the market and tend to crowd into the same names. A profitable company with high returns and less than half its shares held by institutions has fewer analysts and buyers watching it, so its price can lag the business. When funds do find it, their buying moves the price.

Some companies are lightly owned because funds looked and passed: a controlling shareholder, a foreign listing or weak governance.
